Dr. Michael A. Miyasaki, DDS
Series Host
Dr. Michael A. Miyasaki, DDS is the host of the AIOBIO QBLISS Clinical Series. A practicing clinician and internationally recognized dental educator, he has lectured worldwide on minimally invasive, patient-centered dentistry and brings decades of hands-on clinical experience to each session, sharing practical, case-based insights on how visual diagnostics can strengthen everyday examinations, patient communication, and preventive care.
Dr. Daniel Jurgens, DMD
Special Guest Speaker
Dr. Daniel Jurgens is a dentist at Gentle Art of Dentistry. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 2020 and his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Molecular Biology from Kenyon College in 2016.
Course Description
Dr. Daniel Jurgens has documented a large number of root caries lesions on LINKDENS in his geriatric patients. In this special guest session, he uses these cases to show how he assesses root caries and uses Qray images to explain clinical findings, discuss preventive and restorative options, and involve patients in their care.
The presentation brings the clinical cases together with a practical framework for root caries detection, assessment, and prevention/treatment, distinguishing detection and severity assessment from lesion activity assessment.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, participants should be able to:
Distinguish disease from lesions.
Explain why care must address both the patient’s overall risk and individual sites.
Describe the role of Qray as an adjunct to root caries detection.
Use white-light and Qray images to support co-diagnosis, explain preventive and restorative options, and engage patients in home care and clinical recare.
Apply primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention principles to root caries cases.
